Freundschaft

Er war mal wieder für zwei Tage zu Besuch, mein alter Freund aus Hamburg. Wir kennen uns seit 26 Jahren. Er ist jetzt in seinen Siebzigern und wir sehen uns einmal im Jahr in Berlin, wenn er auf Deutschlandtournee ist, um seine Freunde zu treffen. Und dann sitzen wir in unserem Lieblings-Café und bringen uns auf den aktuellen Stand über das, was wir erlebt haben, wie wir die Welt gerade sehen, was uns sorgt, was uns lebendig und bei Laune hält, wie es uns geht mit der Pandemie und dass wir vielleicht schon bald sterben werden. Habe ihm erzählt von meinem neuen Projekt als Trauerredner, dass ich drei Monate im Retreat war, dass es gerade schwierig ist, mit meinen Töchtern und wie sehr ich mich freue, eine tiefe Verbindung mit ihm zu haben, obwohl wir uns nur einmal im Jahr treffen. Wir reden über Gott und die Welt, Kaffee und Kuchen, den gemeinsamen Schmerz über dieses und jenes, persönliche Verantwortung und die Lust am unartig sein. Und wenn wir uns dann trennen und zum Abschied umarmen, spüre ich, dass es Dinge gibt, die nicht online gehen und … das ist gut so! 23. November 21

FRIENDSHIP

He was visiting for two days, my old friend from Hamburg. We've known each other for 26 years. He's now in his seventies and we see each other once a year in Berlin when he's on tour in Germany to meet his friends. And then we sit in our favorite café and catch up on what we've experienced, how we see the world in the moment, what worries us, what keeps us alive and in good spirits, how we're doing with the pandemic and that we might die soon. I told him about my new project as a funeral speaker, that I had been on retreat for three months, that it was difficult with my daughters at the moment and how happy I was to have a deep connection with him, even though we only meet once a year. We talk about God and the world, coffee and cake, the shared pain of this and that, personal responsibility and the pleasure of being naughty. And when we part and hug goodbye, I feel that there are things that don't go online and ... that's a good thing!
